Argee Gofforth

July 4, 1934 — September 26, 2023

Crawford

Argee Gofforth, devoted husband, father, brother, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in Crawford, with his loving wife of 36 years by his side. Argee was born into this life on Independence Day (July 4, 1934), to Leslie and Thelma Gofforth, in the same room in their family home in which he took his last breath.

Argee grew up around Crawford, he attended and graduated from Crawford High School, yet he always found time to hunt and fish. After graduating, he worked for one year outside of the North Fork in construction then enlisted in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served four years and was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Argee apprenticed in Texas and began his career as an Industrial Electrician. He then returned to Colorado, opening his first business in Montrose (a business that his son, Leslie, now owns) called Electric Motors Service. Later he moved back to Crawford then opened his second business, Electric Motors Company.

Argee was a fiercely independent man: a man of unyielding honor, unwavering integrity, and the capacity to demonstrate unconditional love. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, as well as everyone who had the distinct privilege of knowing him.

Argee is preceded in death by his parents (Leslie and Thelma Gofforth), his brother (James), and his aunt (Evelyn Macklin). Argee is survived by his wife, Wanda Gofforth (Ruch), brother Vernon of Pahrump, Nevada, daughter Cheryl Van Dyke (Jim Woldruff) of Grand Junction, son Leslie Gofforth (Janet Eckerdt) of Montrose, son F. Dean Kaestner (Letty) of Dublin, Ireland, daughter Karla Head of Palmer, Alaska; as well as 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda would like to thank Hope West (P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416) and Comfort Keepers (P.O. Box 40186, Grand Junction, CO 81504) for their kindness and dedicated care over the past two years. Please consider making a donation to either organization in lieu of flowers, in memory of Argee.

A Celebration of Life memorial event is planned for July 5, 2024, at Crawford Town Hall Community Room.
