Barbara Lawrence Kimsey went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021 with her family by her side. She was a resident of Horizon’s Care Center in Eckert, CO. Barbara was 89 years of age.
Private interment will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction. There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life to occur in the summer of 2021.
Barbara H. Lawrence was born in Princeton, NJ on March 16, 1931, the daughter of Robert P. and Lillian (Lake) Lawrence. Barbara spent her childhood in Princeton and Verona, NJ and received her education in Verona. She attended Cornell University and transferred to Drew University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree.
On Dec. 26, 1952, Barbara wed Marvin Wade Kimsey in Holmdel, NJ. Wade passed away on April 23, 2007.
Barbara has been a resident of the Cedaredge, CO area for the past 23 years, having moved to Cedaredge from Westfield, New Jersey, where she was a resident for 38 years.
Barbara attended the True Life Church in Cedaredge. She and Wade were part of the “Cedaredge Clowns” and enjoyed going to area nursing homes to entertain the residents. Among her interests were reading, needlepoint, playing Bingo, league bowling, and of course spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara’s survivors include two daughters: Anne Spalenka (Rick) of Cedaredge and Patricia Bollinger (Robert) of Nipomo, CA; a sister, Dorothy Lawrence of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren: Josef Wade Spalenka (Danielle), Brian James Spalenka (Lucy), Wesley Lawrence Bollinger (Claudia), and Lily Alexandra Bollinger and three great grandchildren: Graham Thomas Spalenka, Lyra Anne Spalenka, and Angel Eduardo Cordova.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wade, her parents, a son Lawrence Wade Kimsey and brother Robert P. Lawrence, Jr..
