Barbara Jean Redden

Barbara Jean Redden passed away Friday, February 3rd, 2023, at Paonia Care Center in Paonia, Colorado. She was 77 years old.
Barbara was born on May 30th, 1945, in Geneva, Alabama to Wilma Agnes (Carswell) and Harley Roy Martin. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1963 and then continued in some secretarial trade school classes. She also had a good deal of on-the-job training. Barbara had a varied career path including secretarial/clerical work for a hospital, waitressing, housekeeper, and owner/operator of B & D Upholstery Shop and Country Junction Antique and Thrift store.
In 1968 she married Donald Earl Redden Sr. As a military spouse she was involved in many youth activities including Cub Scouts and Director of the American Youth Activities Center while they were stationed in Germany. The family made their way to the Delta County area in 1979 from Salem Georgia.
Barbara loved thrifting and looking for and working with antiques, old books, brass, crocks, and lots of other collectables.
Barbara is survived by her son Tony Redden of Cedaredge, CO; step son Giovanni Redden of Washington; step daughter Helena Herr of Idaho; brother Robert “Bobby” Martin of Dothan; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Donald Earl Redden Jr.; two sisters: Patricia Newcomb and Ann Furdeck.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
