Bessie Louise Byers passed away on February 12, 2021 at her Haysville, Kansas residence. Bessie was 81.
A funeral service for Bessie is scheduled for 10:00 a.m, Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at the General Assembly Church of the First Born in Delta. Burial will follow the service at the Pea Green Cemetery.
Bessie Louise Howard was born on March 10, 1939 in Avery, Oklahoma to Floyd B. and Linda Mae (Porter) Howard. She completed high school in 1957. On March 14, 1959 she married Lester Dean Byers in Cushing, Oklahoma. Together, they raised 5 children. She had been a resident of Olathe, Colo., coming from Parkland, Oklahoma.
Bessie was a member of the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn in Delta, Colo.
Bessie enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, gardening, cake decorating, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bessie is survived by her 5 children: Harvey Dean and Jerry Byers, both of Olathe, Colo.; Larry Byers (Carol) of Austin, Colo., Randy Byers (Denice) of Moore, OK, and Tammie Nichols (David) of Haysville, Kansas. She is also survived by her sister, Violet Byers of Delta, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Lester “Bud” Byers, her parents, sisters Ruby and Lawanda; brothers: Benny (her twin), Bud, Melvin, Ray and Ellis; daughter-in-law Pam Ellis, and grandson Kolten.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
