Carol Ann Kouba was born in Colorado Springs, CO to Milo Kouba and Blanche (Koranda) Kouba. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School near the top of her class. By then she had become a fine classical pianist,
She married James Lovelady, moved to Pasadena, CA and went to work as a technical editor and typist for the Chemical Engineering department at CalTech. In later years, she worked in this capacity for two electronics firms. She was a natural engineer and could fix a typewriter with a paper clip.
She raised two children, Tess and Randy, and later after Tess died, two grandchildren, Christopher and Lily. She loved having the other granddaughters come over all dressed up for Easter egg hunts and tea parties she held in the garden, They will never forget those times.
Her mother had taught her not just to sew but to sew like a professional seamstress. She made custom clothes for everyone in the family and her own clothes were always stylish and beautiful. She started and ran a cotton clothing business (Cotton Time) when polyester was king.
When the children were old enough, she joined James on business trips to Russia, Japan, and Germany. She loved to travel, and later they enjoyed several cruises.
We will miss her smile and her sense of humor. She was always willing to help whether it be a church project or someone in need. Her practical advice has often helped her grandchildren and their friends.
She is survived by her husband, James Lovelady, son Randy Lovelady, grandchildren Christopher Woodworth and Lily Lovelady, Drake Lovelady, Brandi Lovelady, Tamara Lovelady and Vanessa Cruz ; great grandchildren Roed Woodworth, Noah Millian, and twin boys Kane and Leo Lemus
