Cheryl met Gordon David Hartter and they married December 17, 1966 in Boulder, Colorado. They celebrated 59 years together. Cheryl and Gordon moved to Oxnard, California and then Newport, Rhode Island where Gordon was stationed in the Navy.

Eventually they moved back to Boulder, Colorado where they began raising their son and daughter. Cheryl had many different skills. She started as a telephone operator, then became an excellent seamstress. When the family moved to Nederland, Cheryl managed a motel. After they moved to Cedaredge, Cheryl found a job at the new McDonalds in Delta, then as a bank teller, and also kept the books for Eckert Motors Auto Repair.

For 11 years Cheryl helped manage food for the Council Tree Pow Wow when it was held in Delta. She also traveled to the yearly Rainbow gatherings with the Bread of Life Church to feed the hungry of spirit. Cheryl and Gordon enjoyed taking their RV to the forest and lakes where Cheryl could fish. Cheryl loved fishing and was fond of taking herself to the Mesa for an afternoon at Cobbett Lake.

Cheryl was known as “Granma Cheryl” who baked gluten free and sugar free pastries and created a cook book for that purpose. She was known as the apple fritter lady and baked hundreds of apple fritters for Red Mountain Ranch during Apple Fest. She was last seen praying for the elementary school children as they arrived for school each day.

Cheryl loved her family and was well loved in return. She will be missed.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Gordon Hartter, son Joseph Hartter, daughter Alicia Olson, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
