Curtis left peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Crawford, Colorado. He was 76 years old, which equates to 28,007 days old.
Curtis is Loved and will be greatly missed, until next time.
Curtis was born May 6, 1948, in St. Francis Kansas, to Mildred Pauline Freeman and Charles Allen Hartley. He grew up in St. Francis and graduated High School on May 25, 1966.
Curtis met Rita Shaw while going to High School and they married on November 22, 1968. Their son, Larry was born September, 1970. The couple later divorced but remained very good friends up to his death.
Curtis left Kansas in 1982, and moved to Palm Desert, California. Living there for 10 years making a living as a carpenter, building multi-million-dollar homes on many occasions in the Palm Springs area. He and his partner at the time along with her two children, Rochelle and DJ enjoyed many fun things California had to offer.
In the early 1990's, Curtis moved to the North Fork Valley and he continued in carpentry/construction. Curtis taught his son the trade and together they started their own construction business.
Curtis enjoyed everything about Colorado and was grateful to be able to spend so many years here.
Curtis was kind and a great teacher of all things and enjoyed sharing his life knowledge, he had many interests and things he enjoyed doing.
He had a passion for 67-72 GMC trucks, woodworking, mechanical drafting and design, welding/steel fabrication, gardening, Nascar and Top Fuel drag racing, music, being outdoors and buying new tools.
In his younger years he enjoyed, camping, dirt bike racing/riding, mechanics and classic muscle cars, faster the better.
Curtis is survived by his brother Larry Allen Hartley of Mount Calm, Texas; son Larry Hartley of Crawford, Colorado; step daughter Rochelle Santimaw of Colorado; granddaughters Deja and Autumn; step son DJ Santimaw of Colorado; and granddaughter Isabel.
Curtis thought being a "Grandpa" was just pretty special.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Claude Hartley.
I lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Curtis Hartley’s name to HopeWest Hospice of Delta Colorado.
