Daniel passed away on October 3rd, 2022 at the Delta Health Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colorado. He was 73 years of age.
Daniel Rockwell was born January 25th, 1949 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Enid Wolverton and Wilson Miller Rockwell. He would grow up in the Paonia and Crawford Colorado area and graduated from Paonia High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation the entire family would move to Canada. Daniel would find love in Canada and adopt a son, James Rockwell.
Daniel and his cousin Bobby grew up together like brothers and spent many hours learning how to be ranchers from Doug Weinant, the ranch foreman for his Uncle’s ranch. He would learn to weld from his mother Enid, who was a “Rosie the Riveter” in Washington state during the war at the ship yards. He was also very talented at working with leather of all types, shapes and sizes. Daniel was a cowboy at heart and made a living working at various ranches. Daniel would move back to the western slope of Colorado after almost 40 years in Canada, bringing his father home where he would pass away. He moved to Crawford permanently in 2007.
Daniel had a kind heart and always was trying to help people. Daniel loved dogs and rescued Toodles, who became his companion and his protector until she passed earlier this year.
Daniel is survived by his son James, Cousins Sandra Heron of California and Bobby Rockwell of New York, Aunt Inez Pottorff of Hotchkiss, Colorado, three cousins, and will be missed by his close friends in Crawford, Colorado.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements were under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
