Delbert Richard Kendall

Delbert Kendall died peacefully at his home surrounded by his children on December 29, 2023. He was born in Paonia and lived most of his 88 years there. He worked as a uranium miner in Uravan and Naturita, and then was a coal miner and a backhoe operator. Delbert married Georgia Strain on December 24, 1957, in Paonia and was married for 46 years until Georgia passed away in 2014. Cars and his family were what he treasured. He would buy old trucks and rebuild them, and in his last years, he built him some hot rods. He loved visiting Reedy’s Gas Station so he could talk cars.
Survivors include his five children: Delbert Richard (Dick) Kendall (Chris); Marcia Laiminger, (Kevin); Steve Kendall, (Susan); Shiela Kendall; Don Kendall, (Jennifer); sixteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Lee Kendall and sister, Eunice Davis.
Preceded in death by his wife Georgia Kendall, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Paonia at noon on January 15, 2024, with a reception immediately following.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Delbert’s memory to Hope West Hospice.
