Donald Lloyd Reed

     Donald Lloyd Reed passed away at the age of 75 in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 2, 2023. His memorial service will be held at Taylor Funeral Home in Delta, Saturday, November 11th at 10 a.m. Following the service, a close family and friends’ lunch and reception will be held at The First Baptist Church in Delta.
     Don was born April 1, 1948, in Austin, Colorado, to Hazel Weber and Donald Wayne Reed. He grew up in Eckert, Colorado, and was a graduate of Delta High School in 1966. Upon graduation he served in the Army.
     Don married Kathy Head on December 18, 1966 and celebrated 57 years together. Despite leaving the western slope of Colorado a handful of times, this area was always home for Don. Over the years, Don pursued a variety of occupations but was well known for his careers in auctioneering and construction. He played a large role in developing and building Taylor
Funeral Home and the First Baptist Church.
     Don enjoyed hunting, especially elk. He also loved four-wheeling and spending his free time in the great outdoors. He had many hobbies including woodworking, hand-painting, playing pinochle, cribbage and other games with family and friends. Family was the most important part of Don’s life, and he tried to never miss an event for those he loved. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and a knack for comedic sayings that will always be remembered and carried on.
     Don is survived by: wife, Kathy; sons and daughter-in-laws, Darren & Denise, Dwayne & Shannon, and Darel & Wendy; seven grandchildren; Devin, Donovan, Danae, Dillon, Kristian, Camren, and Connor; 7 great-grandchildren; and two siblings; Bernice and Calvin.
     Don was preceded in death by his mother Hazel, father Donald, and two brothers Bob and Tony.
     Flower contributions are encouraged and can be made out to Donald Reed. Donations can be made in his honor to HopeWest Hospice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
