Earl Marsh

Delta County resident Earl Marsh passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Crossroads in Delta, Colorado. He was 93 years old.
Funeral services will be held 10:00a.m, Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Gunnison Valley Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Terry Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.
Earl Marsh was born on the family farm June 7, 1928 to Willie Henry Marsh and Flora (Bourne) Marsh in Portales, New Mexico where he spent his childhood. He was the first-born twin. He and his twin brother, Murl, were helped into the world by his older sister Marie Ritthaler. She said she’d just been sent out to wave a white sheet to signal the neighbors for help but those boys were determined to come into the world quickly and she was called right back in to help her mother.
The Marsh family later moved to Delta, Colorado where Earl graduated in 1947. The boys were close friends their whole lives, sharing a jeep, a tractor, animal husbandry and farming enterprises as young men. They had many hunting and fishing stories to share over their favorite activity “Shoot the Moon” dominoes tournaments and “fish fries.”
On November 27, 1952 Earl married Esther Ruth Carlton in Beatrice, Nebraska. To this union three children were born; Diane Juncker, Rick Marsh and Dan Marsh.
Earl worked for Meadow Gold Dairy for 35 years in Grand Junction and later in their Delta Plant where he retired.
Earl was a resident of Delta, Colorado for 77 years and attended the Gunnison Valley Church of the Nazarene in Delta and the Church of God. He faithfully served God with his example of loving service to the church in many capacities and to others.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing. Many friends and family members will enjoy his beautiful hand-made clocks and lamps for years to come. He was an outstanding gardener and loved sharing the fruits of his labor.
Earl is survived by his wife: Esther; sons: Rick Marsh (wife Tammy Marsh) and Dan Marsh; his daughter: Diane Juncker (husband Ken Juncker); sister: Fronia Taylor; and 4 grandchildren; Christa McMahon (husband Sean McMahon), Caitlin Gardner, Chandler Gardner and Isaac Marsh.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Flora Marsh, son-in-law Darrell Gardner as well as four brothers and sisters; Christine Donnel, Marie Ritthaler, Archie Marsh and William Marsh.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
