Barbara “Gail” Pittenger (nee Stiles) age 89 passed away on April 30, 2024 at Crossroads Assisted Living Center in Delta, Colorado. Gail was born September 27, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Margaret and Edward Stiles. Her parents, her husband James E. Pittenger, and her only brother Arthur Zachery Stiles all preceded her in death.
She and Jim had two children, Scott and Cynthia (Syndi). The family followed their passion for learning and career advancement by moving to various places for school or work. They ended up making Colorado their home in 1972. Gail worked for the Jefferson County School System for 32 years as a Speech Pathologist, retiring in 2000.
Gail made friends easily and will be missed by many. She loved her dogs and any others she saw, whether purebred or mutt.
Once retired and before Jim passed, they were able to travel. Whether in an RV or with tour groups flying to destinations, they made great memories. Gail spoke often of their travels and how much they enjoyed the trips to Africa, China, and Australia.
Gail’s extended family includes son: Scott Pittenger (Lyn Pittenger), Grandchildren: Brian Pittenger (Stacy Pittenger), Kari Meshefski , Great Grandchildren: Jaxton and Sylas Meshefski, and Daughter: Cynthia Scott), (Daniel Scott). Sister in law: Pamela Stiles, nephew: John Hales, niece: Rebecca Motchenbaugh, Her brother, Zach’s children: Mathew and Austin Stiles.
