Gregory Jay Smith, age 60, of Cedaredge, passed away on September 25th, 2024, peacefully at his home in Cedaredge, CO. Greg was born on February 11, 1964 in Denver Colorado, to Barbara Elizabeth Frick and Jay Conrad Smith. He grew up in the Denver-Metro area.
Greg made his way to Delta County making Cedaredge his home. He loved the Western Slope and all of the friends that became family over time. His career path led him into a Western Slope Area Manager position with Rise Broadband. He enjoyed the work, had a great team and loved the remote locations his job would take him. When not working, Greg enjoyed being in the great outdoors and loved spending time with his family. His favorite hunting spot was Lonecone, CO. It held special memories from childhood adventures with his father. Lookout Point in Lands End and the family cabin in Fairplay were also some of his favorite spots. He enjoyed taking drives up to the Grand Mesa with his wife, loved hunting season, camping, setting up his ice fishing rig, four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Greg would say that he wasn't an overly social individual, but he never met a stranger. His laugh was contagious, and his positive outlook was with him to the very end.
Greg is survived by his wife Robin Kissner Smith; his son, Devon (Heather) Hutchings; mother, Barbara; sisters, Linda (Matt) Woodbury and Vicky (Vaman) Jakribittuu; brother, Steve (Karen), and many extended family members who loved him tremendously. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Jay Conrad Smith.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Lone Tree, CO.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service.
