Hal Branson Durfee

Hal Branson Durfee passed away on 12/22/2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 70 years old. No services will be held, he will be cremated and buried in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. 

Hal was born on March 21, 1954 in Durango, Colorado to Ethel Horton and Vaughn (Doc) Durfee. The family moved around a lot. Oregon, California then back to Delta, Colorado. He graduated High School in 1972 at North Marion, Oregon. He was on the State Basketball Team. He went to Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon in 1974. From there he went in the Army and served 11 years. Hal received the Good Conduct medal, Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon, National Defense service medal and Expert Rifleman metal.

Hal met Linda Wigner, and they were married on April 27, 1991 in Delta, Colorado. They celebrated 33 years together. He and his wife lived in Delta for 33 years. He worked for Sherriff Department as a Correctional officer. He loved bowling, reading a lot of books and gardening.

Hal is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Heath; brothers, Jess Durfee of Vancouver, Washington and Roy (Karen) Durfee of Carlton, Oregon.

Hal is proceeded in death by his father, Vaughn Durfee; mother, Ethel (Horton) Durfee; brother, Buster Durfee; and sister, Iva (Durfee) Forsythe.
