Jack Lonis passed away peacefully at his Delta residence on Monday, December 21, 2020. He was 83 years old.
Jackie Eugene Lonis was born on April 2, 1937 in Centerville, Iowa to Walter and Virginia (Blackburn-Bryan) Lonis.
He married Cynthia Davis on September 9, 1994 in Cedaredge, CO. This year they celebrated 26 years of marriage.
Jack spent his childhood and attended school in Whitehall, MI. Jack served in the United State Air Force for 4 years. After his discharge, he lived in Chicago where he worked for the Burlington Railroad and as a real estate agent.
In 1981 Jack moved to Montrose, CO where he worked in the home improvement business. In 1990 Jack joined the staff of the Delta Correctional Center. He worked at DCC until his retirement in 2004.
Jack loved to play golf and was a member of the Devil’s Thumb Golf Club. He also enjoyed hunting and deep-sea fishing.
Among survivors is his wife: Cindy Lonis of Delta, CO; a daughter: Dawn Behnke and Steve of Aurora, IL; three brothers: Walt of Denver, CO Larry of Chicago, IL, and Dale of New York. Additional survivors include 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held this spring.
