Delta resident, Johnie Vigil passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. Johnie would have celebrated his 89th birthday September 17, 2020.

Johnie Vigil was born September 17, 1931 to Manuel and Marie (Martinez) Vigil in Cisco, Utah. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Cisco, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado, graduating from Grand Junction High School.
After high school Johnie enlisted into the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. Once Johnie was honorably discharged from the Navy he went on to attend Mesa State College.
On March 18, 1955 Johnie married the love of his life, Mary Berg. To this union three children were born. The couple had the honor of sharing 65 years of love and marriage.
Johnie worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years before retiring in 1991. Johnie was an avid Yankees fan never missed a game, enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family and friends.
Johnie is survived by his wife, Mary Vigil; daughters, Rose Price (Kevin) and Cordalee Rubalcaba (Daniel). He is further survived by his six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and 0ne great great-grandchild.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Johnie Vigil Jr., and his siblings.
