Johnny Lee Hemphill passed away from this life on November 1, 2020 at the age of 83.
Johnny was born in Cushing, OK on May 27, 1937 to the late John F. Hemphill and Dorothy Marie Simma. After losing his mother at a young age Johnny’s father would then remarry Marie Weese. Johnny grew up in Dove Creek, CO where he would meet and then married the love of his life Winnie Dean Butt on June 10, 1958 in Dove Creek, and to this marriage they had four sons. On September 12, 1982 Johnny was baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and on September 23, 1983 Johnny and Winnie would be married for time and eternity and sealed to the family in the Temple.
Johnny was an avid outdoors man, who loved to fish, hunt, and spend time in Pony Draw with his boys. Johnny also had a love for hunting rocks. Johnny was a hard and proud worker who loved his job with the Colorado State Highway Department, and after 20 years Johnny retired and decided to move back to Dove Creek. Johnny loved the life the lord gave him and made the best of it.
Johnny is preceded in death by his wife Winnie, his parents and step- mom.
Johnny is survived by his four sons Wendall and (Dawn) Hemphill of Cedaredge, CO., Jamie and (Shanna) Hemphill of Montrose, CO., Rodney Scott and (Melony) Hemphill of Dove Creek, CO., Jared and (Julie) Hemphill of Dove Creek, CO., One sibling Sharon Smith of Florence, CO., Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Johnny will be greatly loved and missed by all that knew him.
