Lance Holbrook lost his hard-fought courageous battle against brain cancer on April 17, 2024, at Hope West in Grand Junction Colorado. His wife, children and grandchildren were all able to spend precious time with him in his final days. He was 73 years old at the time of his passing. At his request there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life is planned for later in the summer.
Lance was born on the 4th of July in Palmer Alaska in 1950. He spent a small amount of his childhood in Alaska and California but most of his life was spent in Colorado.
While attending school in Olathe Colorado he enjoyed playing football and basketball, he met and later married his wife of 54 years Debbie (White) Holbrook.
He worked many construction jobs on the western slope and settled in Rifle Colorado working in the oil shale industry. Lance and Debbie spent almost 20 years there raising their 3 daughters. After retiring from construction, he moved to Delta in 1995 where he farmed and trained and raised horses. He enjoyed all of his farm animals but loved his horses most. He was also an avid gardener and had a small orchard. He was always proud of his harvest and willing to share. He took great pride in his hay crops.
Lance loved the outdoors! Some of his happiest times and fondest memories were hunting with his daughter and grandsons. He traveled to watch his grandchildren in all their many sporting events. Fishing and camping at lake Powell with any of his family that he could talk into going always brought him great joy. The thing that made him swell with pride and happiness was his family. He was the happiest when he was spending time with them whether it was just one during a visit or all of them.
Lance worked hard! Played hard! And lived life to the fullest!!
Lance is survived by his wife Debbie of 54 years, his daughters, Heather Holbrook of Delta, Heidi (Leon) Barnes of Delta and Holly (Justin) Barrick of Mack. His twin sister Lana (Elton) Soell of Boise City OK, His brother Ron (Tammie) Holbrook of Rifle and sister Melanie (Rocky) Baysinger of Rifle. Six beloved Grandchildren; Austin, Alix, Gavin.
