SFC Lee White passed away in Grand Junction at Hope West Hospice Center. He was 82 years old.
A viewing will be held at 12:30 to 2pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at Taylor Funeral Service in Delta. Interment will be at 10am on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
Lee was born in Brentwood, NH. His parents were Virginia Merrill and Joseph Bernier. He attended Harrison High School in Colorado Springs. He continued his education in the US Army.
He served our country for 21 years, served in Vietnam and retired as an SFC.
He was fortunate enough to have two loves in his life, Colleen Kay Fryman who went to our Lord in 1973. He married Sandra Magaha in 1986, and they celebrated 38 years together.
They made their way to Delta County, finally settling in Cedaredge. He was retired Army and enjoyed driving school buses. When not working he enjoyed car mechanics, riding his motorcycle, and his grandchildren. His favorite saying was, “If you ain’t cav, you ain’t shit.”
Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy of Cedaredge, CO; his children, Joseph Veo, and Rita Marie of Delta, CO, and Tommy Shields of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Jade, Kyle, Caleb, Alex, Colleen, and Connor; 7 great-grandchildren; his cousin, Lee Graves of Vale, OR; his beloved sisters, Bonnie White of Hermosa Springs, FL, and Roberta; 5 nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Legion Riders on the Western Slope which Lee brought from the Eastern side of the state which he was so proud of.
