Lois Jane DenBleyker passed away Sunday, October 8th 2023 at her home in Montrose Colorado. She was 96 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Russel DenBleyker.
Her ashes will be buried in Leetonia with her parents per her request. She was an only child.
Jane was born in Leetonia on April 30, 1927 to Mary Smith Floding and William Homer Floding. She grew up in Leetonia and graduated from Leetonia high school in 1945.
She said her favorite job was being a mother and homemaker, and she excelled at both, but she also worked for the Ohio Bell as an operator and also owned and operated Kinzua Korners, the largest gift shop in western PA at the time.
She was an exquisite quilter, hand piecing quilts, then quilting them by hand. We are lucky to be the recipients of some of her work. She was an excellent seamstress and would finish the inside of a project so it looked as good as the outside. She tried to teach that to her daughters with varying success, but they all did learn to sew from her.
She was intrepid when it came to enjoying life. She golfed, learned to ski when she was 55, and got her pilots licence when she was 72. She loved all animals, but especially her cats.
With Richard (Dick) Eddy (deceased) she raised four children, Sherry Ellen Floding of Youngstown, Ohio, Susan Lynn Whiteley of Wasilla, Alaska, Michael Lee Eddy (Sharon) of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania and Mary Jane Gray (Danny) of Montrose, Colorado. All surviving.
She is survived by 3 grand children; Sarah Jane Whiteley Stanifer (Scott) and Jesse Pete Whiteley who live in Alaska and Paul Douglass Miller (Ahni) who lives in North Dakota and 4 great grand children, Mason Whiteley, Lucas Strachan, Elliott Miller, and Hayden Miller.
