     Longtime Delta, Colorado resident, Lorena Hudgens, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.

     Lorena was born on July 29, 1925 to Samuel and Ruth (Shaw) Peters in Campos, Colorado.  She attended and graduated from Delta High School in 1934.

     Lorena married her soulmate, R.T. Hudgens on May 9, 1942 in Delta.  They had two sons, Gary L. Hudgens and Dennis R. Hudgens.

     Lorena was a true housewife!  She enjoyed her boys, her home, her church and her grandchildren.

     Lorena lived through the dust bowl and spoke of the awfulness of that time; she didn’t like dark or gloomy days.  Lorena held many positions in the church always with a smile.

     Lorena is survived by one son, Dennis (Pat) Hudgens of Rushville, MO and her grand, great and great-great children totaling 86.

     Lorena was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ruth Peters; her son, Gary Hudgens; her sisters and two brothers.

     Memorial contributions can be made in Lorena’s memory to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

     Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
