M. Mary Paine Rebeck

December 6, 1919 — December 9, 2022

M. Mary Paine Rebeck was born on December 6, 1919 to Margaret Francis (Benn) and Leo Albert Paine in Providence Rhode Island. She grew up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduate from Pawtucket High School in 1937.
Mary’s first job was working for George A. Fuller, Merritt-Chapman Scott Corporation at Quonset Point and Naval Air Station, RI. She crocheted hats for the Seaman organization. She then took a job working for Premier Thread Mill Company in Central Falls, RI. In 1955, Mary had the opportunity to go overseas to work for ARAMCO. While in Saudi Arabia, Mary was the secretary for Arabian American Oil Company and lived there for 17 years. This gave her the opportunity to travel in Europe and Asia. Mary acquired many life-long friends during her work overseas.
Through mutual friends, Mary met Andrew Rebeck of rural Hotchkiss, Colorado. They married on July 15, 1972. Mary and Andy loved and cherished family, Andy and Mary enjoyed dancing and found themselves co-presidents of the dance club here in Hotchkiss. They enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Palm Desert, CA. Andy and Mary spent 36 years of marriage on their small ranch. Andy died on February 24, 2008. Mary lived in their home throughout the rest of her life.
Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking and was a faithful letter and card writer. Mary was an active member of her Catholic Church throughout her life until it became challenging to leave her home in 2017. Mary’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She prayed the rosary faithfully everyday as she held many people in prayer. She kept up with the news always waiting to see what would happen next. Mary’s advice to those she was around the most was, “You only can do the best you can do!”
Mary celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 6, 2019. Family from all over came to surprise Mary. She was grateful to see everyone come together.
Mary died peacefully in her home on Dec. 9th, 2022 with her loved ones by her side. The family is grateful for the love and support of Hope West Hospice especially “Nurse Lori.”
