Longtime Hotchkiss, Colorado resident, Mary Louise Farmer, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at her residence.
Per Mary’s request, no services will be conducted and cremation has taken place.
Mary Louise was born on October 16, 1940, to Adair J. and Berniece E. (Carnine) Hotchkiss in Hotchkiss, Colorado. She attended elementary in Hotchkiss, middle school in Malta, Montana and graduated from Malta High School in 1958, and then Northern Montana College with her Bachelor’s in 1962, and her Master’s in 1967.
Mary married Lee M. Farmer on August 20, 1960, at the Hotchkiss Ranch near Malta, Montana. To this union, three sons were born: Brian, Kenneth “Jim” and Patrick.
Mary was an artist, her talent being oil and watercolor painting. She enjoyed reading and traveling. The family moved to the Hotchkiss area in 1975. Lee preceded her in death in 2018.
Mary is survived by her two sons: Jim (Laura) Farmer of Delta, CO and Patrick (Erin) Farmer of Cheyenne, WY; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Berniece and Adair Hotchkiss; her son, Brian Farmer; her brother, John Hotchkiss; and her sister, Helen Wadley.
