Mary Ellen Olson

 Mary was born in Belvidere, Illinois to Ralph Peters and Myrtle Peters (Wyche). She went to grade school and high school there, then to nurses’ school in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

 Mary returned to her hometown where she was a Registered Nurse (RN) for a local family physician for many years. She also worked at two hospitals there in Belvidere, IL.

 In 1979, Mary and her husband Eldon James Olson moved to SW Missouri and was DON at Nursing Homes for approximately 20 years.

 After retirement, Mary and Eldon moved to Cedaredge, CO in 2002, to be near their son, Daniel. Eldon passed away four years later, and Mary lived here another 22 years before passing away.

 Mary and Eldon had a craft and antique store in Cedaredge. Mary volunteered at the local food bank for many years.

 Mary felt she was led to the Baptist Church and made many new friends. Mary was a “country girl” through and through. She sometimes was short with words and always a no nonsense in her communications. Essentially, “what you saw is what you got.” She was devoted to the church; loved and followed the teachings of Jesus and was especially fond of Pastor Dennis.

 Mary lived at her home until the last four days of her life. She was very proud that she made it to 90 years old! She left the material world on 11/28/2024, at 1:10 pm, Thanksgiving Day, to meet the Lord.

 A Celebration of her life service will be held at the Grand Mesa Southern Baptist Church of Cedaredge at 110 SE Jay Ave, on December 9th, 2024, at 11 am with a fellowship time to follow.
