Mary Sue (Susie) Peterson

Longtime Cedaredge and lately Delta resident passed away peacefully with her two daughters and family at her side as she took her last breath on June 17, 2021.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at Delta City Cemetery.
Susie was 69, born November 22, 1952 to Gene and Joanne Wilkerson of Texas. She enjoyed a happy and idyllic childhood with her two brothers, Raymond and David. Susie was an active and accomplished girl scout, she was involved in church, school functions, excelling at grammar and spelling, loved to sing in the choir and playing the piano. Always a good student and friend and ready to serve her community. She attended Pasadena High School graduating in 1971. After graduation she met James Scot Peterson while waitressing and soon married and moved to Cedaredge, Colorado. Susie had two daughters, Sandra Peterson and Christy Crosby. The marriage ended in divorce.
Susie worked at the Delta County Clerk and Recorder’s office and eventually went on to help take care of others in home care. Susie was Awana leader for 14 years. Susie was very active in the church and loved to sing in the choir.
Preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and beloved granddaughter Alexis Crosby and her baby.
She is survived by two brothers, Raymond and David and their wives and families all of Texas. Her two daughters, Sandra of Cedaredge and Christy of Delta. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be missed deeply but never forgotten.
