Mary Vigil

February 23, 1937 — August 14, 2024

Delta, Colorado

Mary Vigil “Berg” passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2024, peacefully at her home in Delta, Colorado after a long-fought battle with cancer.

Mary was born on February 23, 1937, in Tererro, New Mexico to Maria Sanchez and Fred Berg. She spent her childhood years growing up in New Mexico and moved to Colorado in her young adult life. She then met Johnnie Vigil, the love of her life, and they were married in 1955. They settled in Delta, Colorado and embarked on a lifetime of family memories and the making of lifelong friendships. They shared 66 years together and in 2005 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mary was always a smiling, fun loving face known by many in the Delta Community. She blessed others with a witty sense of humor and ability to make every moment a fun memory. Mary was always ready with the click of a camera in hand to capture every great family memory. She left an amazing timeline of pictures that will be cherished and loved forever. Everyone that knew Mary and Johnnie, knew that they loved to dance. They are surely dancing together in Heaven now.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Rose Price (Kevin) of Chimayo, NM, and Corda Lee Rubalcaba (Dan) of Olathe, CO; four grandsons, Jamie Rubalcaba (Frances), Jody Rubalcaba (Jeannine), and Jordan Rubalcaba (Katie), all of Olathe, CO, and Jonathon Vigil (Danae) of Delta, CO; as well as two granddaughters, Hailey Vigil of Granby, CO and Janelle Price of Montrose, CO. Mary had many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joann Vollmert (Barry) of Delta, CO and Eleanor Trujillo of Denver, CO; two brothers, Fred Berg (Claudette) of Delta, CO and Willie Berg (Neomi) of Fruita, CO.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Johnnie Vigil; her only son, Johnnie Vigil Jr.; three brothers, George Berg, Henry Berg, and Robert Berg; along with four sisters, Mae Montoya, Ramona Hernandez, Minnie Carbajal and Criselda Miller.
