Michelle Yvonne Jeffers passed unexpectedly at her home in Delta on February 18, 2024, with her husband, Andrew, at her side.
Michelle was born in Leadville, Colorado on February 6, 1960, the daughter of Charles B. Prince and Rose Marie (Strell) Prince. She was the oldest of two children. Her father retired from Climax Molybdenum as Electrical Supervisor and her mother was a homemaker and a busy volunteer. Michelle lived in a quaint little home in Leadville that at one time served as an assay office.
She attended Leadville High School and graduated in 1978. Michelle was active in choir, thespians, and studied under an advanced placement STEM program. After High School she attended Mesa College in Grand Junction and majored in Chemistry. While at Mesa, she earned her associate degree.
Michelle worked as a preschool teacher to start, then later moved into her field of chemistry. She lived in Colorado most of her life except a few years when she lived in Seattle and managed a lab there. Michelle worked her way up in various labs starting out as an analyst then later moving into a lab manager and technical director.
Michelle married Richard Clements on May 2, 1986. They lived in Denver and on September 27, 1988, her son, Kenneth, was born.
For the most part, Michelle was a single mother. She devoted herself to raising Ken single handedly while working full time to support herself and Ken.
In 2020, she was reintroduced to an old friend she had met when she was attending Mesa College, Andrew Jeffers. It was love at first sight for the both of them and they were married in Cedaredge Colorado on April 24, 2021. In marriage, they were nearly inseparable, and people even joked they could complete each other’s sentences! The two had bought a home in Delta and were working on getting it just the way they wanted it. Michelle often called it her “Goldilocks Home” (just right).
Michelle will always be remembered for her outgoing personality, her infectious smile, and bubbly laugh. She had an insatiable interest in a wide variety of topics and truly believed that learning was a lifelong experience. Some of her interests included Astronomy, Natural Science, cars, internal combustion engines, pottery building, crafts, sewing, and Science Fiction. She kept herself pretty busy with these interests. Michelle was an avid reader, an interest that started in grade school and stayed with her the rest of her life.
Michelle extensively researched her genealogy and traced both sides of her family. She traced her father’s genealogy back to the Revolutionary War. With that information, she was able to become a proud Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was active in the Mt Garfield Chapter.
She loved children and was very kind and caring, and often put the needs of others ahead of her own needs.
Michelle loved animals, especially cats, and always had at least one dog or cat in her care at any time in her life.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Richard Clements. She is survived by her husband, Andrew, of Delta, Colorado; her parents, Charles B. and Rose Marie (Strell) Prince of Delta, Colorado; her brother, David Prince (Kathy Havrilla) of Craig, Colorado; Michelle’s son, Kenneth (Yvonne) Clements of Littleton, Colorado; niece, Cheryl (Danny Hoffman) Prince of Golden, Colorado; great nephews, Harold and Henry of Golden, Colorado; nephew, Matthew Prince of Craig, Colorado; great nieces, Shailyn and Naomi of Craig, Colorado; bonus daughters, Jennifer (Richard) Jeffers of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Stacie (Michael) Jeffers of Montrose, Colorado; bonus grandsons, Forrest and Ogden of Grand Junction, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life for Michelle will be held on April 13, 2024, at 1:00pm at Taylor Funeral Service, 682 1725 Rd, Delta, Colorado. A reception will be held following the service at Heddles Recreation Center, 531 North Palmer St, Delta, Colorado.
Michelle
A Memorial by Andrew
I called you the Love of My Life and I meant every word of it.
My favorite place to be was by your side. We shared a lot of interest and both of us were always interested in learning something new. Our time together was short but we shared many an adventure and experience.
We usually ended each day in one another’s arms and frequently fell asleep holding hands.
You complemented me and I always felt that we completed each other.
You were sweet, kind and compassionate and these were qualities that I loved about you.
There’s a big void in the world and my heart. I love you so much, Michelle.
