Pastor Paul Millermon

1940 — 2025

Paonia, Colorado

Pastor Paul Millermon of Paonia, Colorado went to be with our Lord after fighting a 5-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family as he entered into the presence of Jesus. He was 84 years old.

Services will be held at Bible Center Church in Paonia on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Bethlehem Cemetery and lunch at Bible Center Church.

Paul was born in Wisconsin to Paul and Verna Millermon in 1940. His family moved to California when he was young. His father was killed as a lineman with Sacramento Municipal Utility District in 1951 leaving his mother to raise five boys. As an early teen, Paul attended a Bible camp in California where he learned the plan of salvation about Jesus dying on the cross to save him from his sins. It was at that point that his life made a tremendous course correction, and he developed an intense desire to study the Bible. After graduating from high school, Paul attended Midwest Bible College (which later became Calvary Bible College) in Kansas City Missouri. He graduated from Calvary Bible College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in pastoral studies; later earning a Master of Divinity in 1994. While at Calvary, he met the love of his life, Carol. They were married in June of 1961. Paul and Carol were married for 63 wonderful years and had six children.

During Paul’s 49 years of pastoral ministry, he served churches in Kansas, Iowa and Colorado. 45 of those 49 years were spent wonderfully serving the people at Bible Center Church. He tirelessly preached the Word of God through sermons, Bible studies, prayer meetings, Vacation Bible School, AWANA, and “Bethlehem Living Nativity”. He sacrificed and served the people by visiting, counseling, encouraging and sharing the gospel. Pastor Paul also poured concrete, painted walls, repaired broken items and quietly worked behind the scenes to make everything work seamlessly in support of the ministry.

In the community, Paul was instrumental in acquiring a Christian radio station (KJOL) for the valley. He spent many hours working to get a tower built on “P” hill to transmit the gospel to everyone in the area. Paul served on the Planning Commission for the Town of Paonia working to facilitate residential and commercial construction in the town. He worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring in the Paonia Care Center. Previously, the closest nursing home was in Eckert or Delta. Politically, Paul served as an election judge for numerous local elections. He was a principled man who wanted politics to be fair.

Many have said that Paul was a “Gentle Giant.” He was a giant of a man, one of God’s chosen vessels to reach so many hearts with the message of the grace of Jesus. Paul was also a very humble man and gentle in his manner. His family and friends will all testify to his servant’s heart and love for the Lord Jesus.

Paul especially loved supporting and spending time with his family by taking them hunting, fishing, camping, vacationing and visiting his extended family. He loved watching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in various sports. His guidance, wisdom and loving example were a treasure to his entire family.

Paul is survived by his wife Carol; children: Kathy, Kristi (Casey), (Melissa), Joel (Ginger), Karen (Mike), Kim (Andy), 19 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, son Steve, and granddaughter Abigail.

Paul will be missed here on earth but is intensely enjoying the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Savior of all who trust in Him.
