Patricia May Smith, 87 of Delta, Colorado, passed away peacefully following declining health issues due to Alzheimer’s disease on July 10, 2020.
She was born July 17, 1932 in Delta, to parents Daniel P. Springer Sr. and Rosalie Springer, also of Delta. She attended Delta High School and graduated from Cosmetology College in the early ’60s. As an early entrepreneur, Pat opened and built her own hair salon in Delta and remained an active business owner for over 50 years in the community. She worked as a stylist well into her 80s.
She and her husband, Bo (Charles) Smith both were active members of the Elks Lodge in Delta and participated in many functions over the years. She had a love for music, dancing and all types of cards, including poker. She loved cooking and will be most remembered for her wonderful parties and gatherings that centered around food, family and good friends.
After her husband Bo Smith passed, she moved to Fruita, Colorado, with her daughter Cindy Hanson. She eventually moved into the Eagle Ridge of Grand Valley nursing facility, where she spent her last months.
She is predeceased by her husband Bo (Charles) Smith, her parents Daniel P. Springer, Sr. and Rosalie Springer of Delta, her siblings Tim Springer of Delta, and Jeanie Stephenson of Eckert, Colorado.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cindy Hanson of Fruita and her grandson, Chance Hanson also of Fruita. Her surviving siblings include Daniel Springer, Jr of Delta, Claude Springer and wife Jeanette Springer of Delta, Ted Springer and wife Anita Springer of Phoenix, Arizona and Terry Switzer and husband Jeff Switzer of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She will also be remembered with much love by her closest nieces and nephews, many cousins and special friends.
