Robert Ray Nelse Archer was born June 22, 1936 and passed away August 23, 2024, at home. He was 88 years old.
Robert was born in Elizabeth, Colorado, to Ellen Norell Archer and George Washington Archer. He grew up in Kiowa County. He met Fern Lee Weaver, and they were married on August 31, 1957. They had an early celebration to commemorate 67 years of marriage. He loved to tell the story of how he met Fern when she was a baby. He tried to take her off a table and hold her, and they said no, so he got back at them later by marrying her.
Robert and Fern lived in Ft Lupton and Aurora, before settling in Westminster, Colorado, for over thirty years. This is where they raised their four children. Robert worked for the Packaging Corporation of America and Burns Security for over forty years. He was a dedicated worker that took good care of his family. Robert and Fern retired and moved to Delta in 2004, making Delta their home for the past twenty years. When not working, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors with family and friends. He enjoyed music and concerts. Robert played the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, and he was in a harmonica band in Delta for several years, that played in retirement homes and several other venues. He was quick to tell a tall tale, joke around, and made everyone laugh.
Robert Archer is survived by his wife Fern Lee Archer of Delta; his children Tarey (Teri) Archer of Delta, Stephen Archer of Delta, Tena (Marvin) Adair of Silt, and Brenda (Dennis) Adair of Palisade; and his five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy, and brother Frank.
Robert’s final request was to have his ashes spread in a location he loved on the Grand Mesa where he loved to hunt, fish, hike, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy God’s creation. The joy and kindness he brought to everyone will forever be in our hearts.
