Cañon City, Colorado resident, Roy E. Urban passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, he was 89 years old.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Roy was born June 11, 1933 to Jacob and Margaret (Zimmerman) Urban in Kansas. He attended schools in Kansas until the family moved to Colorado Springs after the dust bowl ruined the farmland. He later graduated from Saint Mary’s High School. Roy went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
In May 1964 Roy married the love of his life, Rosie A. Romero. To this union three daughters were born. Roy and Rosie made their life in Colorado Springs where Roy worked for Colorado Springs Utilities for 30 years before retiring. After retiring the couple moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where they lived until 2000 when they moved back to Colorado, settling in Cañon City. The couple had the honor of sharing 54 loving years together before Rosie passed away in 2018.
Roy enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the Navy, baseball, discussing politics, reading, writing, and watching westerns. He was also a devout Catholic. Most of all he cherished time spent with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
Roy is survived by daughters, Denise and Adam Weber, Audrey Urban, and Roxane Urban; grandchildren, Christopher Eiferd, Thomas and Dakota Urban, Zachary and Robyn Ulrich, Ashton and Oliver Soltvedt, Trevor Sok, Morgan and Charlie Stringer, Lucas Urban, Noah Urban, Bradlee Weber. Roy is further survived by Fourteen great-grandchildren and his beloved dogs.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie A. Urban; granddaughter, Lindsey M. Weber; his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.
