Shirley L. Plymale

March 26, 1943 — July 6, 2020

Longtime Paonia resident, Shirley L. Plymale, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Hope West Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 77 years young.
Shirley Louise Eisenbart was born March 26. 1943 to Charles and Dorothy (Gerber) Eisenbart. Growing up alongside her three older sisters there on the Family Farm in Fowler, Kansas. Shirley learned first and foremost about the Love of Family, developing a strong faith in God and the Value and Benefits of Hard Work from her Parents which she carried with her, All her Life.
She graduated from Saint Mary’s of the Plains, Class of 1961, then continued on obtaining a Cosmetology license in Wichita, Kansas. Her love of Style and Fashion led her to enter, compete and win the Kansas State Beauty Championship while dating David R. Plymale. He married his Beauty Queen on April 27, 1963. Blessed with two Children; a son, Phillip and daughter, Rhonda. Shirley and Dave were married for 58 years.
Passionate about Caring and Serving Others; she was a Scout Master with the Cub Scouts, served on the Women’s Auxiliary, volunteered at the Senior Center where she helped serve Communion, read books to the Children at the Elementary School and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia which she attended weekly, setting up before Services, greeting those arriving, preparing meals or providing a plate to pass, whenever the need arose in the Church or out in the Community.
From holding Babies to sitting with Seniors; Shirley was always one of the first of be there, a kind word, a listening ear, a smile, a touch, a hug, a cup of coffee or over a cold beer, her warmth, charm and laughter immediately put you at ease and made you feel right at Home.
And if you got an invite for Dinner, you knew it would be good as she cooked most everything from scratch using recipes her Mother taught her and those of her own like her famous Fried Chicken which brought everyone running.
Joys: traveling, camping, snowmobiling, 4wheeling, FISHING, but what she cherished most of all were her FAMILY. Among her greatest joys were her Grandchildren: Crystal, Ashley, Taylor and Trevor; her Great-grandchildren: Destry, Tyson, Zander and Sadie, their pictures covering every inch of her Refrigerator! She will be deeply missed by them All.
Oh Lord; We thank you for Shirley, for the amazing and beautiful Woman that she was, the life that she lived, the difference she made and the Legacy she left with each of Us!
Shirley leaves behind: the Love of her Life, husband, David R. Plymale; her son, Phillip Plymale; her daughter, Rhonda Doyens; daughter-in-law, Dawn Plymale; son-in-law, Richard Doyens; her sisters, Darlene Mahoney and Charlene Eisenbart; as well as All of You who knew and loved her, those she touched, too numerous to list . . .
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Eisenbart and her sister, Geraldine Dickerson.
NOTE TO ALL: A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date once larger groups can gather due to Covid-19 so everyone can attend.
