Resident of Cedaredge, Colorado, Thomas Eric McGinnis 54 years old, passed away on February 5, 2022 under the careful care of Hope West in Grand Junction, Colorado. Eric’s dear supportive friend, Laura Jane Knoch, of 14 years, was by his side.
Eric was born on April 30, 1967 in Murray, Utah to the late Thomas Allison McGinnis and Floria Rose Williams, who resides in Delta, Colorado. Eric never married. He is survived by his siblings; Samson (Tanya) McGinnis, Steven (Lisa) McGinnis, Diane (Rob) Bromley. Eric was blindsided by the same invasive melanoma cancer that took his dad. They both would be a voice of warning to, “Get your moles checked often, Melanoma is a force to recon with.”
Eric, traversed Utah, Arizona, and Indiana, but Colorado stole his heart. He adopted the caregiving of his mother to share his love of the beautiful Grand Mesa. By profession, Eric was and arborist which helped fill his need to be in God’s great outdoor. He worked in large trees, but his favorite was assisting the older folks of the community, with the little jobs of trimming hedges that the big companies didn’t have time for.
Great memories were made; fishing, camping, dirt biking, hiking and especially attending concerts with his dear friend, Laura Jane. Eric loved cooking over a hot grill. He made the BEST jerky of all time. He found delight in decorating the Christmas tree with precision. He had a distinct laugh that could be discerned in a crowd. Eric will be missed. Knowing he has a greater purpose now, and is surrounded by love, comforts us all.
