Thomas Gene Muncy

Paonia, Colorado resident Thomas Gene Muncy passed away Monday October 26, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 86 years of age.
Tom was born May 23,1934 to James Hollis Muncy and Dolly Buretta (Green) Muncy in Porum, Oklahoma.
On January 11,1958 Tom married Mary Ann Draper in Farmington, New Mexico. Together they have resided in Paonia since 1968, moving there from Utah.
Tom worked on the railroad when he was just 17 years old, then at a coal mine. After that he volunteered to fight for his county by serving in the Marines. He was honorably discharged after 2 ½ years where he served in the Korean War. Tom was a Sargent and trained in heavy artillery.
Tom retired from the coal mine in 1985 and then had his own business until he was 80 years. He was a very hardworking man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and loved playing his guitar. He enjoyed technology and learning new things. His great passion was studying his Bible and sharing his faith with others.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Muncy of Paonia; his son, Tom L. Muncy (Paula) of Longmont, Colorado; his daughter, Frankie Ann Reschke (Luke) of Paonia; three grandchildren, Luke Michael Reschke, Matthew Thomas Reschke and Rhema Marie Muncy Zlaten; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Bryant of Globe, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
